According to The Hill, earlier this month, The Body Shop made an announcement stating that it has shut down all its stores in the United States and filed for bankruptcy. Although the Canadian subsidiary of the UK-based cosmetics company, The Body Shop Canada Limited, is working on restructuring and has kept all of its 105 store locations open for business, 33 of those stores have started liquidation sales as part of the bankruptcy proceedings.
Online sales in Canada have also been halted. The Body Shop is famous for being a beauty brand that pioneered cruelty-free heritage and ethical beauty products. It was founded by the renowned human rights activist, Anita Roddick, and was one of the first cosmetic companies to ban animal testing on their products.
